Site- Very steep south slope, views to river and rapids.
Program- Vacation home for older couple with guests and visiting family, phased construction, low maintenance.
Solution- House elevated on piers to minimize site disruption and allow drainage. Passive solar affords plenty of natural light and ventilation. Radiant heat and a central wood stove cover the winter months. Most functions are on one level. A small independent apartment below. Designed to be built in three phases - kitchen/living/dining, then the apartment, and followed by the garage.
