Program- West-Indies-style vacation and rental home with natural ventilation, separate apartments, and pool. Emphasis on outdoor living areas. Use of indigenous materials and local artisans in every aspect of construction.
Solution- Porches cantelevered towards the ocean. Louvers and large overhangs for sun control and ventilation. House and guest house create courtyard with decks and pool facing views. A series of “trees” provide an arbor of shade and privacy from the sun and road above.
